My time in GRI11 2.0

Dear future self,

My year in GRI11 2.0 has been the best year of my life! Hanging out with my great friends at camp, going to Tauranga with the jump jam team and all of the above. I've had the best teachers any child could ask for! (No lie).

I'm 11 now and I'm not quite sure how to get this across, I really want you to follow your dreams. Even if some people think it's not worth it because it is! Go to university, get a great job that you enjoy and stay healthy!
Let me remind you how great my year this year was!

2016 memories,

GRI11 2.0 has given me so many opportunities like,
Netball
Chorale
Touch
Kids for kids
Cross country
Athletics
And many more awesome activities!

I've tried to try tasks and sports that I would've never thought of doing. I've met my BFF Nadia Biel this year, she's obsessed with netball! Are you still best friends with Nadi? Camp was so cool this year, better than “Green pastures”! We went hiking in glow worm caves, water sliding,
Archery (shooting) and river walking! It was awesome!
Lara, Madeleine, Eilidh and I hopped on a kayak and rid into the middle of the river, we jumped of in the middle. We were freezing!

I'm glad I was a GRI11 kid this year! Thanks to
Miss Gordon
And
Mr Robertson for teaching me this year. You had to put up with this mess✨

Athletics day

On your marks, get set, BOOM! My heart was running as fast as Stievie on cross country day. My pams were num, my legs were pumping and they couldn't stop. I was determined to do the best time I could. Racing the clock isn't as easy as you think! The adrenalin I felt as I crossed the finish line felt awesome!

Junior jammers!

Today we taught the junior syndicate 3 cultural jump jam routines to represent what we were learning about this term. We are learning cultural diversity, we thought we would teach the juniors what we have been learning but in a fun manner! In... JUMP JAM ROUTINES!

It was super fun and we only had 5 days to plan it all. I'm super proud of our work and the team work. There was some arguments but we agreed and pushed through it. The juniors also burned some energy off!

We gave out "Go For Golds" to the juniors that went hard out and tried there best, I was sad when it was over because I loved seeing all the happy little smiles on there faces. Congratulations to...

1. Nadia
2. Ivy
3. Anneka
4. Tho
5. Lara
6. Holly V
7. Zahra K
And..........

8. ME!
The jump jam routines we did were,
1. Kotahitanga
2. Kung fo fighting
3. Chori Chori,

Thanks for reading.

Brisbane Gold Coast Australia.

22/3/16

Last week I found out I was going to Brisbane Gold Coast in Australia. I'm going on the16th of December and I'm so excited. I'll tell you some thing that we're going to do.

We're going to swim with dolphins,We're going shopping, we're going to go to the beach and we're going to go to every theme park we can plus many more! I'm most pumped for the plane ride because I haven't been on a planne since I was 4 years old.

I'm least happy about swimming at the beach. There are so many Maco Sharks! I don't want to be bitten on such a big trip. Even if I don't get bitten it's too risky.

What's interesting is at night Brisbane looks like New York. It's so flash and bright with all the city lights. Every building is huge!

Thank you for listening and I hope your as excited as I am.

Cheerleading Nationals

This was one of the best weekends of my life! I went to the coolest cheer competition of my life. Saturday morning my mum woke me up at 5:00 a clock in the morning, I had to get up, get dressed and leave to the airport. My mum and I were flying to Auckland. It was 1 hour flight and I loved it, my competition went for two days, that's why I had to leave so early. When we landed we got a cab to the hotel we were staying in.

It was cool because my best friend was staying with me. She is a cheerleader aswell so that's why she was there. We got our hair and makeup done. It hurt to do my hair because my mum had to put it up into a ponytail and tease my hair, the teasing part hurt really badly! Before we went to the arena we stopped and got some Mcdonald's, sooner we were at the arena ready to show those judges we we have.

The first day was fun, we got zero deductions and we were coming first place so far. After the competition ended we went shopping, we got clothes and then we got Starbucks! We headed back to the hotel and calmed down for the day. We had a HUGE day tomorrow.

I woke up on Sunday morning at 6:00 and had a shower. My mum did my hair and makeup again, then we were of with Ani and her mum to get some breakfast. We got Mcdonald's again! Then we were at the arena ready to go, we needed to beat the other teams for a 3rd time in a row! It meant so much to us. "Next up Zero Gravity J FORCE"! It's our Cue. We have finally finished the routine and we felt great! Fingers crossed we win...

It was finally prize giving and we were down to Praise, 2nd place is... Praise, FIRST PLACE IS JFORCE! Were so happy we won! As victory I got 2 knew bows and a jacket. Best day of my life!

Writing Explanation

Hi, this is one of my peices of writing I did at school! Sit back and relax (Enjoy)

What is the agency target?: The agency target is a target of all our focuses. E.G-The learning spaces, Collaboration and a lot more! There's three parts to the agency target, There's also three colours.
Red
Orange
Green
The red side is we're your guided, you need to be reminded of your goal by your teacher all the time!
Orange is we're your not guided but you might need help sometimes. You try your hardest to stick to your goal and successfully do it!
Green is when you can be on task all the time and have the teacher never talk to you for the wrong reasons, you strive for excellence and you drive your on learning to your limit!

What is agency?: Agency is where you drive your learning. You need to look after your learning and make sure you know something new every single day.

I'm going to explain each symbol,
Learning pit, the learning pit is where there's something hard you're doing and you're stuck on it. You have two choices,
To not try
To try your hardest to work the question out

I'm going to explain managing and designing our own learning,
It's we're you know what's best for your learning and be the best you can be as a learner.

The next subject is knowing yourself as a learner. It's where you don't just know what's best for you, it's where you do what's best for you and your learning.

Of course you can't forget about collaboration,
Collaboration is we're you work with other people. Of course in collaboration you don't take all the work for yourself.

Next I'm going to explain striving for excellence, striving for excellence is we're you try your hardiest in everything you do.

Last but not least learning spaces! Learning spaces is about choice. You can choose,
Choose to sit with your friends and talk the whole time and not get any work done.
Or two you could sit with your friends and talk but still get work done.
Learning spaces is also how your feeling for your learning.

You could go into the silent room for no noise.
You can go into the hangout to work in a team.
You can go into the hall of fame and go on the Macbooks and focus and not just talk.
Or you can go into the hub and do anything your feeling for your learning!

I think our Agency target helps us learn 10x more than TTS and that we learn new things every day.

Holiday poem!

This Term we had to make 4 Haiku poems of 5-7-5 syllables. Then we all had to pick our best one and illustrate it. This was my favorite.
We had to make it based on our holiday. I hope you like my poem. Can you guess what I was doing?

Our Production

Hooray! We've just finished our hole school production. I'm so happy but sad at the same time. I loved the practises and the romance between Kristy and Terado was just so real! At least I thought it was. (Sadly it was just acting). As you might know our production name was Cinderella and Rockerfella. But with a little twist.

We've added a few different things in the story.

  • Dances
  • People
  • Music/sound effects
And much more. I've enjoyed my time being in our production and I hope there's more to come.

Favourite things in GRI11!

I love my classroom. But there's so many things I love that our teachers let us do in GRI11 2.0!

Like letting us sit with our friends to all the furniture we get! Miss Gorden and Mr Robertson are the best teachers in the school. We can be socail while working and just be kids! It's my favourite class I've been in since ever! I'll tell you some things we do to make learning fun:

1. When we do maths Mr Robertson pulls out his Nurf guns! He put the times table answers on the projector and we get to shoot which is the right answer!

2. They tell jokes and never shout at us... (Accept for the boys)

3. THEY LET US WATCH TV! E.G- BASKET BALL FINALLS!

That's why I love GRI11 2.0!

Swimming Sports.

On Tuesday the 12th of April Grill 2.0 went to Swimming Sports finals. It was a really exciting but nerve racking for people that were swimming in the finals.  It was the best day of the week for me because I came 6th and 1st in my two races.

The people that weren't racing had to stand or sit behind chairs so they weren't in the way of the other teachers walking up and down the hall.

The races I entered were back stroke and flutter board race. At the start I was cold and I didn't want to hop in the pool. But after my races I felt pumped and hot and I wanted to go back into the pool.

The donut store

In the enchant times there was a Donut store in England. It was haunted. People got the plague because of the donuts they sold. The big problem was the donuts were divine. Everyone wanted there donuts. They were as addictive as candy.

One day someone got inployed to work the donut store. The boss left him for the day. The first few minutes were okay until the icing started randomly squirting at him. He had to do something about this. So he rang his boss.

His boss thought he was being ridiculous! There's no such thing as auto icing! So he decided to get on with his job. He started to starve. He thought one donut couldn't kill any time. So he ate  donut after donut. Then came the day when he got very sick all because of his choose he made at work that day.

He had to put a stop to selling those donuts! He called the police. The police didn't believe what they were hearing. They met at the donut store to investigate. They tried a donut. Oh no!

Sports Rotations

Sports Rotation at CSNS is really fun! Every Tuesday the senior syndicate have sports training. The sports we have are:

Tennis
Basket ball
Hockey
Football
Socor
Badminton
Court warm ups and many more.

Every session we have 45 minutes at each sport, we have 2 sports rotations.

My favourite 2 sports have to be Tennis and Hockey. Tennis is fun because I'm really bad and my friends are good so we all laugh together. I also like hitting the tennis balls. It's fun! Hockey is fun because you can get right into the game and tackle people for the ball. You have really fun warm-ups at hockey; Line Running, Seaweed, Stuck in the mud and many more.

One of my favourite days of the week is Tuesday. I think I am getting better at all the sports and I like being outside with my friends.

Shopping with Lara

In my holidays my nana and I picked up my friend Lara to go shopping. We had a blast!

The first thing we thought about was CLOTHES! Whenever I go shopping I think about clothes. It was a rivalry when we were looking. All of a sudden I saw a really cool shirt. I pulled it out and then Lara thought it was her style.

Then we looked at jackets and sweaters. Lara was a bit jealous because she wanted the same top as me. So we were looking at everything just In case it was here. But it wasn't. Then we went beside that and looked at more jackets. All of a sudden Lara saw this awesome sweater that I was in love with! It was white with 3D polkadots. Luckily she didn't end up getting it!

Lara ended up buying a  busy sleeved black and gray jacket, I ended up getting a very colourful sweater and a grey and pink labeled Tshirt.

After clothes shopping we walked out of the plaza and went to McDonald's. We went to the McDonalds up the road, the McDonalds at the plaza had a very long. We both paid for something. I got the ice creams and Lara got the chicken nuggets.

Weetbix triathlon

On the 24th of March at Ongley Park we held the Weetbix Kids Tryathlon. We had loads of fun. The ages you could do it was  7-15 yrs old. The order of the racing was swim-bike and then run.

My favourite part was the swim. It was a freezing day and my friends and I were huddling up together like little penguins. They heated the lane pool outside at the lido so it was like a warm spa.

At the end of the tryathlon we got an apple, iceblock and don't forget about a medal. At 2:00 we had prize giving. Weetbix donated $300 to our school for having the most kids that completed the Weetbix Triathlon.

My least favourite part was the run because it was so tiring and I was puffed. The only part of the run I liked was the end because I felt so good and proud of myself.

That was my first Weetbix Kids Tryathlon and it definitely won't be my last because I'm going again next year.

172 College Street Kids entered the Weetbix Tryathlon this year!

Favourite classroom space

My definit favourite spot to work is on this table in the hub! We can laugh and have fun but we can also work hard and get things done easy! It's so nice here because if it's hot we can open the windows and if it was cold we could turn on the heaters. This is such a great spot and I'm glad I can work in the hub.

Hauora Classroom Spaces.

We have four amazing rooms in our class, each room is based on Hauora. The hub, The hide out, The hang out and the hall of fame!

The hall of fame is the inspirational room. For example I would go there to get a computer. The hide out is the silent room. For example I would go there to work in peace. The hang out is the social room. I would go there for an inquiry meeting and the hub is just all of the rooms mixed together. I go to the hub for work shops with the teachers. They help me in my daily life to learn. I will go to the hang out to talk and have meetings. I would go to the hide out for some silence. I would go to the hall of fame for relaxing and I would go to the hub for help and team work!

I love to work most in the social room because its quite and comfortable  to work in. You can also talk to your class mates. The hub is good for work shops with the teachers! They help us work in fun ways. The hall of fame is were all the stationary and computers mostly go. Other than the safe.

I love learning about hauora because it helps me learn and focus on my work.

GRI11 2.0 at Sixtus Lodge Camp 2016.

At camp "Sixtus Lodge "we did so many amazing things that I never thought I would do. I loved the horse riding but also the glow worm caves! But my favourite part would have to be the Burma Trail! That was so scary.

Somebody grabbed my ancle! A berma trall is a very scary dark track if you are wondering. The parents were scary. Not that they weren't scary before they hid away!

It was a blasted and I wish we could stay for longer than 3 days. Oh well.

In my cabin/ shed I had to share a room with - Lara Smith, Holly Veale and Holly Griffen. It was good except for Holly  G's weird gross annoying and disturbing noises she makes with her nose. She kept everybody awake.

At least that drama is over!

This is the horse I rode.
